We will be launching a special school wide gardening project creating mini greenhouses out of plastic milk jugs. Please save your empty gallon milk jugs. If you could please send them to school clean and with the caps on that would be helpful. We will share more about this exciting project in the weeks ahead. The empty milk jug collection will begin now and go through the Friday before Spring Break. We need "a lot" of milk jugs so check with your family, friends, and neighbors. Rondout's pet supply drive will benefit Orphans of the Storm. The collection will end on our Family Day of Service on Saturday March 4, 2023, from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Rondout. Orphans' Wishlist: Newspaper (We go through 100 a day!), Bath-Size Towels (NO hand towels or rags), Dog bones, chew bones, treats, balls, Cat trees, toys, beds, treats, Sturdy dog and cat combs and brushes, Human baby food (Meat based only, for sick cats), Cat litter, Baking soda (To control cat litter odor)

Family Day of Service will be on Saturday March 4th, 2023. The focus will be on service to animals in need. We are partnering with Orphans of the Storm who will be bringing some of their doggie friends to join us for inspiration. We will be making blankets, cooking up some enrichment treats and having a pet food/toy drive. The activities will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. For one day each spring, the population at Rondout doubles. That day, we open the doors and welcome special guests for Special Seniors Day, an event that recognizes and celebrates the special relationships and interactions between generations, and the desire for multigenerational interaction as part of our children’s education. The goal of the program is to give students a chance to bond with their special guests at school. The event is a collaboration between the PTSA and teachers, school administration, and the community. Proud grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and family friends have flown in from as far away as Los Angeles. Parents play a critical role in Special Senior’s Day (see below). Because of this, parents are encouraged to find someone other than themselves, but if they want to be special guests, that’s OK. RSVP Early! We want to personalize this event as much as possible! To do that, we need to capture the names of each Special Guest visiting Rondout. Rondout is planning to be open for class tomorrow February 16th. We will alert you if there are any changes to that plan due to changes in the forecast. Lake Bluff has cancelled after school activities so they will not be hosting the volleyball game scheduled on their campus tomorrow. We will not have volleyball practice tomorrow and all our after-school activities will be cancelled. Please be sure to send your child dressed for the weather as we may have outdoor recess tomorrow and snow gear will be needed. Thank you. March is officially designated by the National Association for Music Education as Music In Our Schools Month, the time of year we celebrate the importance of music education, and the diverse ways students are able to access and express themselves through music. The Spring Concert features all students in kindergarten through eighth grade and showcases the variety of ways students learn and experience music. Student performances will feature singing, movement, playing instruments, rhythmic speech, body percussion and improvisation. You will also be entertained by several world premieres of student compositions! Students should plan to arrive at 6:15 pm, concert begins promptly at 6:30pm. Students should plan to "dress their best": dress shirts, dress pants, khakis, sweaters, jumpsuits, dresses, and dress shoes are strongly encouraged.
