Special Education Services and Supports
How We Monitor Student Progress
At Rondout School District 72, student progress is closely monitored and supported through ongoing collaboration and communication.
Grade-level and cluster teams meet regularly to review student progress, strengths, and areas of need
Parent–teacher conferences are held twice each year
Interim conferences may be scheduled at the request of parents or staff at any time
Student Services Team (SST) meetings may be initiated by staff to bring parents and the instructional team together to review emerging needs and strengths.
Our small school size allows us to closely support every student—whether they are receiving enrichment, intervention, or both.
Requesting a Special Education Evaluation
Parents may also initiate a request for an evaluation. The following outlines the process.
Step 1: Make a Request
Parents and guardians may request a meeting to discuss concerns as well as initiate a request for a special education evaluation at any time.

Special Education Eligibility Categories
Parent Guide to the Outcome of Evaluations
Students in Illinois may be eligible for special education services if they meet criteria under one or more disability categories and need specially designed instruction to make progress in school.
Eligibility is determined by a multidisciplinary team, which always includes parents or guardians. We are committed to working in partnership with families to support every learner.
Important Information for Families
A medical diagnosis alone does not determine eligibility
Eligibility is based on evaluation data, observations, and educational impact
The team considers whether the student needs specialized instruction, not just support
Parents are full members of the evaluation and eligibility team
Special education eligibility and services are provided in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
