A Message from the Principal

Only by working together can we insure the safety of each child at Rondout.  Our greatest concern at the end of the school day is making sure every student is dismissed safely and boards the appropriate bus, goes to BASE or is picked up by a parent, guardian or designated adult as detailed on the emergency form or a written note from a parent.

Please write a note and send it to the office first thing in the morning if your child’s departure plans are changing.

Students should not use cell phones or the office phones to make impromptu play dates or alternative departure plans.

Your cooperation and support for the safe dismissal and departure of your children is greatly appreciated.

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

On behalf of the Rondout staff, I would like to thank the PTSA for the wonderful luncheon they provided on Thursday.  Once again, the PTSA and all the parents of Rondout have demonstrated the value they place on the work the staff does with their children each and every day.  Thank you very much for a delicious and healthy lunch.

Market Day

The pick-up date is MONDAY, MAY 12TH from 4:45-5:30 p.m.  Please leave checks/cash in the office if you are unable to pick up your order.  Our goal is to have no deductions from our profit this month!

Volunteers needed for the sale.  Any amount of time is appreciated.  I will be raffling a special treat just for the volunteers…A Chocolate Bavarian Crème Braided Bread!

We are still looking for a Market Day co-chairperson.  The commitment is one Monday a month from 3:45-6:00 p.m.  We could break that into two shifts (3:45-5:00 p.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m.).  Another idea is to volunteer as a co-chair every other month.  If we do not have anyone in place, families will be getting a phone call to see how they can help with this important fundraiser.  It is May and we need to get someone on board now! Call Jenni at (847) 327-9568 or email at jashoemaker@comcast.net.  Thank you!

School Supply Program

As a reminder, the School Supply kit program order forms have been mailed to each family with the Rondout 2008-2009 registration material. Order forms are due no later than Tuesday, May 20th. You can either return the order forms to your child’s teacher or directly to the main office. Additional grade specific order forms are also available through the main office. The School Supply Program offers many benefits including lowest cost and quality products as well as one-stop-shop convenience. Funds from this program will be targeted towards child enrichment programs and activities for the 2007-2008 school year such as the recent Fox Ellis story telling Artist-in-Residency. If you have any questions, please call Kim Sturonas at 847-283-9640.

Rondout Track

Congratulations to Mrs. Fischl, Mrs. Parkerson, and Mrs. Ruch for organizing the first Rondout home track meet in school history.  Rondout competed with Oak Grove in a series short and long distance individual and relay races, the long jump and shot put.  Thank you to the volunteer teachers; Ms. DeVries, Ms. Sendejas, Mrs. Holway, Ms. Byrnes, Ms. Deuble and Mrs. Studer for supporting the event.  Also thank you to Mr. Fischl for his work and participation. The competition was enjoyed by a large contingent of Rondout and Oak Grove parents, families and friends.  The track meet was a fantastic school and community event.  See pictures from the meet inside the Flyer.

Spring Awards Concert

Congratulations to Mrs. Studer and the Rondout Concert Band, Beginning Band and Choir for a wonderful performance last night that featured the music from George in the Jungle, Elvis Presley, the Lion King and the unofficial school song, Louie Louie.

Fox Ellis

Enclosed in this week’s Friday Flyer is an informational page if you are interested in ordering any of the collective works of Brian “Fox” Ellis.  Order forms and payment are sent directly to Fox Tales International.  All ordering information is on the handout.

The PTSA would like feedback from you and your children on the Artist-in-Residency of Fox Ellis.  Please complete the forms and return to the PTSA mailbox in the office.  Thank you.

Spring & Summer Fashion

Spring is here!  The weather has changed and winter clothes have been placed in storage.

Please remember to have your child wear lightweight fabrics that cover.  Appropriate dress is expected by everyone at Rondout.  Here are a few guidelines.

School administrators will ask students to cover up when necessary.  Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Last Day of School

The Rondout School Board has approved the last official day of school as Friday June 6, 2008.  Students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. that day.

The last day of BASE is Thursday, June 5, 2006.
